Providing strategy, management and transparency for USask's capital and enterprise projects.


The chief strategic officer is responsible for the university’s Infrastructure Planning and Land Development, the Enterprise Project Management Office, and the Strategic Program Office, and oversees the relationship management functions across finance and resources. The CSO is responsible for planning, reporting and analytics, is a key advisor and member of the vice-president’s leadership team.

Janelle Hutchinson is committed to projects and efficiencies that make sense for the university and its many stakeholders.

With more than 15 years at USask, Janelle has had a breadth of experiences including administration of student awards, manager of marketing and student recruitment, manager of IT and communications, manager and assistant registrar (administrative), and Associate Director all within the student services portfolio. Prior to her current role, she was the executive officer to the VP Finance and Resources. As a student leader, she served as president of the University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union.

Janelle holds three degrees from the University of Saskatchewan—a Bachelor of Engineering in Agricultural and BioResource Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, and a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies.
