Role

The Information and Communications Technology unit is led by the associate vice-president information and communications technology and chief information officer, who provides leadership for developing and implementing technology and procurement services that assist in the delivery of world-class teaching, research and administrative services.

The AVP is responsible for the delivery of reliable and responsive ICT, and as the chief information officer (CIO), leads the development of strategy and standards for information technology (IT) and IT security for the university. The CIO oversees the organizational effectiveness of the university's information resources and is responsible for delivering information technology and protecting information assets through effective, sustainable, and responsible planning and design.

Procurement Strategy and Initiatives 

The AVP oversees USask enterprise procurement services, ensuring that procurement processes, policies and activities are designed and conducted in a fair, open, and transparent manner.Goods and services procured for the university are critical to the university’s academic, research, and operational activities and procurement processes must balance the need to support these activities in a timely and user-focused manner while minimizing the risk to the university.
